Office Update
As many of our patients already know, Dr. John Dolenz will be saying goodbye, as he moves closer to his grandchildren in Maryland. Dr’s. Justin and Jordan Hummelgard are now our new dentists.
We hope to make the transition as easy as possible. We know that you have been well cared for, and we know many of you have come to rely on Dr. Dolenz as a trusted resource over the years. We look forward to meeting you, earning your trust, and caring for you and your families.

Dr. Justin Hummelgard, DDS
As of September 2023, my wife and I became the new owners of this practice. I am originally from Minnesota but moved to Atchison, in 2020. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Saint Thomas in St. Paul, MN, and earned my DDS degree at Creighton University School of Dentistry, where I met my wife, Jordan Hummelgard. While attending dental school, I received multiple awards for implants, endodontics, and aesthetic dentistry. I know this is cliché, but as a dentist, I strive to treat my patients as if they were a family member of mine. Having said that, everyone is different, and no mouth is the same, so I individualize each treatment according to the whole person. I love the communication and relationships that I build as a dentist, and now I get to do this with my neighbors. Since 2022, I have owned Hummelgard Dentistry in Saint Joseph, MO and now I will split my time between our Atchison and Saint Joseph office.
Dr. Jordan Hummelgard, DDS
I am excited to join my husband, Dr. Justin Hummelgard, at Hummelgard Family Dentistry beginning November 2024. I completed my undergraduate studies at Benedictine College and then went on to earn my DDS degree at Creighton University School of Dentistry. Following dental school, Dr. Justin and I moved to Atchison, my hometown. I previously practiced dentistry at the Atchison Community Health Clinic where I loved getting to know my patients and providing dental care. I look forward to meeting each patient at Hummelgard Family Dentistry and building relationships that last for years to come. One of my top priorities as a dentist is to help my patients feel comfortable and at ease during their dental visit. While the dental office may not be everyone’s favorite place to be, I want to make your experience here at Hummelgard Family Dentistry as relaxing as possible!
A LITTLE ABOUT OUR FAMILY
Outside of the dental office, we enjoy raising our two children Beckham and Jett. We spend most of our time outdoors – enjoying bike rides, walks with our dog, four-wheeler rides, fishing, and chasing the boys around the yard. We also enjoy movie nights as a family. Dr. Justin is big sports fan. Being from the Minneapolis area, he loves his Minnesota sports teams. They haven’t had the success that many of the teams here have had over recent years, so it’s nice that he is in an area where there are winning teams hosting parades. The red has already started rubbing off on him!
